2006 Aston martin v8 vantage

When I announced the creation of Moving Our World, I also put out some feelers to real life and online friends with cool machines.

Pete was one of those people. I knew he had an early 00’s Aston Martin and not much more than that. After a quick scroll through social media I found a few photos of the thing and messaged asking to film. Pete drove down to see me one Saturday and arrived mid morning. It was our first time meeting in real life and with limited time on our hands there wasn’t a moment to waste.

Off to the country we went - firstly in different cars so I could capture a bit of external footage of the V8 Vantage. This was one of my first times putting effort into filming a moving 4 wheel vehicle and the results weren’t quite what I had hoped for - but with the day disappearing it was time to ditch the filming car and sit in the passenger seat, next to Pete.

It’s not often you’re staring at an Aston in the rear view mirror.
Vehicle: 2006 Aston Martin V8 Vantage
SET UP: 4.3L AJ37 V8, 6 Speed Manual, 380 BHP
FUN FACTS: Owner imported car from Singapore. Pete was the first New Zealand owner.

I guess you could say it was my first time in a ‘Super Car’. Yet, judging by todays standards, the Aston is pretty low in it’s power output and a somewhat tame offering. Pete really didn’t class it as a super car and I can see his point. Being an earlier version of the V8 Vantage, the power plant is a 4.3L V8, where as the V8 Vantage from 2008 onwards had a 4.7L engine. Although the 380 BHP coming from under the hood is nothing to sneeze at.

With some empty country roads in front of us, Pete didn’t waste a moment showing me exactly what this 6 speed manual is capable of. Finally it was time to sit down and talk about the car, which is mainly the footage you’ll see in this edit.

I think we need more footage of driving this thing. Pete! Can we book another filming session?
